Job Description:
Position: Japanese Kitchen Chef
Wages: CAD$22.00 /hour
Types: Full-time, Permanent
Working hours: 8 hrs/day, 40 hrs/week, flexible work schedule from Monday to Sunday if required by restaurant schedule.

Job Duties:
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
• Prepare and cook Japanese sushi foods such as sushi, sashimi, salads, rice bowls and other specialty Japanese dishes
• Create new recipes and plan menus
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen/sushi bar staff
• Answer customers’ questions and offer recommendations
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies
• Keep the workstation clean and tidy in accordance with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
• Support the restaurant manager with recruitment, training, and development of kitchen staffs
• Assist with overseeing he day-to-day operations of the kitchen
• Maximize resources and inventories by managing cost and monitoring inventory and budget
• Perform any other task required for the smooth running of operations

• Completion of secondary school
• Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial food preparation required.
• Japanese cooking experience an asset. Previous experience working as a Japanese kitchen chef, sushi chef, sushi maker, sushi cooks preferred
• Cook certificate an asset
• Highly committed to a premium level of quality
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
